About

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District 7 is preparing to resurface the State Road 60 corridor in the downtown Tampa area, which consists of Kennedy Boulevard and Jackson Street, between Brevard Avenue and Meridian Avenue, to maintain and extend the life of the pavement. In addition to improving driving conditions and the aesthetics of the roadway, resurfacing projects often address safety issues, make minor drainage improvements, and/or make improvements to comply with the American’s with Disability Act (ADA).

The planned improvements for the resurfacing projects along SR 60/Kennedy Boulevard and Jackson Street include:
  • Milling and resurfacing of approximately 1.9 miles of State Road 60
  • Upgrading sidewalks and curb ramps to comply with ADA standards
  • Minor drainage improvements
  • New traffic signal with pedestrian crossing at the intersection of Jackson Street and Governor Street
  • Pedestrian safety improvements at various intersections
  • Shared lane markings for bicycles along Kennedy Boulevard between Brevard Avenue and Ashley Drive
  • A two-way bike facility along Jackson Street
  • Changes to the number of travel lanes and on-street parking spaces at select locations
