Welcome to the Tampa Bay Community Traffic Safety Teams

Made possible with support from the Florida Department of Transportation and local agencies in Tampa Bay



​​What is CTST?


​The Community Traffic Safety Team (CTST) is a multi-disciplined Federal, State and local government endorsed program developed to reduce the number of traffic crashes that occur on Florida roadways. The program is managed by the Florida Department of Transportation and supported by a wide range of community partners, such as: cities, counties, law enforcement, first responders, school districts, St. Joseph's Hospital Wellness and Safety Center, John Hopkins All Children's Hospital, Tampa General Hospital, Safe Kids, health care advocacy groups, MADD, Tampa Alcohol Coalition, Center for Urban Transportation Research (CUTR), and more.​

The members of the committees work towards this goal by addressing the Four Es:

Engineering
Enforcement
Education
Emergency Services​ 

There are four Teams in Tampa Bay:

Hillsborough
Meets every 4th Wednesday of the Month from 9:30AM to 11:30AM

Meets every 4th Wednesday of the Month from 1:30PM to 2:30PM

Pinellas
Meets every 1st Thursday of the Month from 10:00AM to 11:30AM

West Central (Hernando and Citrus)
Meets every 2nd Wednesday of the Month from 1:30PM to 2:30PM

Goals of the CTST


The teams undertake traffic safety-related projects and activities and serve as a resource to any and all communities, local government agencies, and roadway users.  The CTSTs overall goal is not only the reduction of serious and fatal injury crashes, but assisting in reaching Zero Fatalities on Florida roadways.​

The CTST members work towards achieving this goal by educating the community on a wide variety of safety topics, such as:

  • DUI / Wrong Way Driving
  • Aggressive Driving / Distracted Driving
  • Safe Routes to Schools (SRTS)
  • Click It or Ticket /  Buckle Up Florida
  • Work Zone Awareness
  • Pedestrian / Bike Safety
  • Bike Walk Tampa Bay
  • Motorcycle Safety
  • Safe Mobility for Life
  • Occupant Protection​
  • Safety Academy

CTST Meetings are held monthly and are open to the public.
